poolbeg lighthouse is hit by waves as storm bram swept across dublin bay

Poolbeg Lighthouse - Storm Bram Print

Around Poolbeg Lighthouse, the sea was loud, messy, dramatic, and absolutely beautiful. The crashing waves felt like wild brushstrokes on nature's canvas as Storm Bram swept across Dublin Bay on a December afternoon in 2025. The Great South Wall disappeared beneath a massive swell of waves and spray while the sun, clouds and rainbows drifted across the bay.

The storm was fierce enough to damage sections of the Great South Wall, cutting off access to the lighthouse for months and costing millions to repair. Yet the landmark red lighthouse barely flinched, standing tall against nature as it has done for over 200 years.

A 1.2 metre glassless tray-framed version of this photograph was recently commissioned for the new Porsche Centre South Dublin, and it looks stunning.
